OBJECTIVES
: To give each student the basic knowledge of elementary calculus & its popular uses.
ASSESSMENT
: I will give 3 exams & a final. (see Course Meeting Calendar for dates).
HOMEWORK
:
There will be a reasonable amount of homework assigned after each class meeting. You are responsible
for the complete understanding of these problems. There will be 22 extra credit quizzes given at the end
of each class meeting (not the first meeting). See sheet on the dates and hints.
ATTENDANCE
(read my attendance policy carefully) (see Attendance Policy Handout)
Missing class will hurt you. Much time & thought has gone into my presentations.
I expect everyone to have very good attendance. You are responsible for all missed work.
FINAL GRADE
: Based on your class average (3 exams) (60%) & a comprehensive final (40%).
GRADING SCALE
:
A(92-100), A-(89-91), B+(86-88), B(83-85), B-(79-82), C+(76-78), C(73-75), C-(69-72),
D+(66-68), D(60-65), F (below 60).
IMPORTANT DATES

Monday, 9-7: Labor Day, no classes
Friday, 10-16: Fall Recess
Tuesday, 10-27: Mid-term grades are due by 12 noon (2 exams)
Monday, 11-2: Last date to withdraw without academic penalty
Friday, 12-11: Last day of classes
Monday, 12-14 to Friday, 12-18: Final exam period
ATTITUDE

Have a positive outlook. Try not to get discouraged if you’re having trouble. You MUST ask
questions on anything that you’re not sure about or see me for individual help, anytime.
